First, this is the Associated Press All American team, not a random sports blog.
Second, there is only one kicker for each of the three All American teams. So, you could read this to say that the national press considered Atkins the second best kicker in FCS football.
Hope's selection is also impressive. He's listed as one of the top 6 linebackers in the country. The other 5 linebackers on the 1st and 2nd team are all Buchannan award finalists (top defensive player in FCS). Hope is the only freshman listed.
