I did not care for the Lakers or Kobe while he was playing, but I've been so impressed with how he was navigating his post-NBA life. He was making a difference in so many ways and his future was incredibly bright. This is a giant loss for society and I feel for his family and the family of the others that were killed in such a horrible way. It's hit me harder than I thought it would.

A lot of older players (Bill Russell etc) tweeted how much he meant OFF the court.. apparently was a quality competitor and friend to a lot of people from A-Rod to Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, to etc etc. Huge loss. One of the few times I have been shocked at a news update. So sad.
